Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 10, 2026 · Last updated: August 10, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Smasher Team (“we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, stores, and protects information in connection with the video game Smasher (the “App”), available on the Meta Horizon Store and Steam, and the website smasher-team.com (the “Website”). This Privacy Policy applies to the App on all platforms and devices on which it is distributed, including Meta Quest headsets and PC VR.
By installing or using the App, or by using the Website, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this Privacy Policy.
1. Who We Are
Smasher Team is the developer and publisher of the App (co-developed with Bear Head Studio). For any privacy-related questions or requests, you can contact us at:
- Email: smashervrteam@gmail.com
- Website: https://smasher-team.com
2. What Data We Collect
The App is designed to collect as little personal data as possible. We collect and process the following categories of data:
- Platform account data. When you launch the App, the distribution platform (Meta Horizon / Steam) may provide us with limited account information, such as your platform user ID and username, in order to verify your ownership of the App (entitlement check) and to enable platform features such as achievements.
- Device and technical data. Basic information about your device and connection, such as headset or device model, operating system version, hardware configuration, language settings, and IP address (processed transiently for network communication).
- Crash reports and diagnostics. If the App crashes or encounters an error, technical diagnostic data (error logs, device model, OS version, and the state of the App at the time of the crash) may be collected to help us fix bugs.
- Gameplay data. Game progress, settings, and statistics (such as completed levels and unlocked achievements). This data is stored locally on your device and/or in your platform's cloud save service.
- Website data. When you visit the Website, our web server may temporarily log standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and pages visited, for security and operational purposes.
We do not collect sensitive personal information, we do not access your microphone recordings, camera images, or the physical dimensions of your play area, and we do not sell your personal data to anyone.
3. How We Use Your Data
We use the data described above solely for the following purposes:
- To operate the App and deliver its core functionality, including verifying your purchase and enabling platform achievements;
- To save and restore your game progress;
- To identify, diagnose, and fix bugs, crashes, and performance issues;
- To improve the App, including balancing and optimizing gameplay;
- To respond to your support requests;
- To comply with applicable legal obligations.
We do not use your data for advertising and we do not create user profiles for marketing purposes.
4. How We Share Your Data
We do not sell or rent your personal data. Data may be shared only with:
- Platform providers. Meta Platforms, Inc. (Meta Horizon Store) and Valve Corporation (Steam) process your data under their own privacy policies when you purchase, install, and run the App. See the Meta Privacy Policy and the Steam Privacy Policy.
- Service providers. Technical service providers (such as crash reporting or analytics infrastructure), strictly to the extent necessary to provide the services described in this Privacy Policy.
- Legal requirements. If required by law, court order, or other legal process.
5. Data Retention
We retain data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. Crash and diagnostic data is retained for a limited period needed to analyze and fix issues. Local game data (progress, settings) remains on your device and is deleted when you uninstall the App or clear its data. Support emails are retained for as long as needed to resolve your request.
6. How to Request Deletion of Your Data
You may request that any of your user data collected or stored by us be deleted at any time, free of charge. To do so:
- Send an email to smashervrteam@gmail.com with the subject line “Data Deletion Request”, including your platform username (Meta Horizon or Steam) so that we can locate any data associated with you.
- We will confirm receipt of your request and complete the deletion within 30 days, then notify you when it is done.
- To delete local game data stored on your device, uninstall the App or clear its data in your device settings. Cloud saves can be managed through your Meta or Steam account settings.
7. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at smashervrteam@gmail.com and we will delete it promptly.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction (including under the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA)), you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you;
- Request correction of inaccurate data;
- Request deletion of your data (see Section 6);
- Object to or restrict certain processing;
- Data portability;
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at smashervrteam@gmail.com. We will respond within 30 days.
9. Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. All network communication between the App, the Website, and our services is encrypted using industry-standard protocols (HTTPS/TLS).
10. International Data Transfers
Your data may be processed in countries other than your own, including countries where our service providers operate. Where required, we rely on appropriate legal safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for such transfers.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version will always be available at https://smasher-team.com/policies. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page indicates when this Privacy Policy was last revised. Material changes will be highlighted on this page.
